FUNDRAISING – SELF-FINANCING
While doing a fundraiser to support the project and make it possible, you will self-finance part or all of your internship.
People who have obtained a classic PDC anywhere in the world can send us their résumé and a photocopy of their PDC certificate. You are expected to arrive 48 hours in advance to give you time to adapt to the climate, jet lag and altitude. It's not necessary to have a visa nor be vaccinated to come to Guatemala. Good hygiene and being careful about what you eat and drink can ensure good health. You'll be given an easy route to find us. We have contacts who will help you reach us after landing at Guatemala City airport.
Although we strongly recommend that you fundraise, it's not a prerequisite for being accepted into the program. You will however be required to contribute 540 euros to cover your personal costs and part of the cost of the infrastructure and facilities.
If you feel the call to participate in this fabulous experience, contact us right away by email: Bernard Alonso, bernalon9@gmail.com or Karine Mery, karinemeryphoto@gmail.com
You have the opportunity to finance your solidarity trip through fundraising.
How?
In your community, you organize one or several talks giving an Introduction to Permaculture, with a second part which describes the humanitarian project. The people who attend your presentation pay an entrance fee which goes toward your fundraising. You also give the attendees the opportunity to finance the project through an additional donation if they wish. In exchange, they receive a tax receipt for a charitable donation, and, why not, an invitation for a free presentation about your completed project after your return. All the attendees will be invited to see first-hand the fruits of their donations.
In cooperation with the Kokua Association, you can fundraise 50% of the cost to finance your trip, and the difference will be paid by the association to help the project succeed.
Support from Permaculture Internationale and Kokua:
- You will receive posters (standard for everyone) where you can add the dates of your presentations.
- You will receive photos and flyers as needed to launch your fundraising campaign.
- You will be given a project description that you can distribute to donors.
- You will receive support in developing your presentation, as well as a PowerPoint if desired.
- You will have access to an Excel file that will help you with the financial management of your fundraising campaign.
- For Canada and the United States, charitable receipts can be given for donations of $100 or more.
Benefits for permaculturalists:
- You develop your skills as a speaker and a teacher.
- You spread the message of permaculture to those around you.
- You develop community, ecological and global awareness.
- You help fund an international charitable project.
- You learn through experience to develop a strategy with goals and financial objectives to achieve.
- You develop confidence in who you are.
- You become an active permaculturalist by applying the fundamental ethics of permaculture.
